Tideway Systems is a private company that develops software products for large IT organizations. Tideway's product, Foundation, allows enterprise customers to run IT like a business by providing a complete and authoritative source of IT configuration intelligence. Foundation automatically interrogates and retrieves data from IT systems, recognising hardware, software and and business applications and their dependencies for integration into service and business management tools. |
Project Brief Application modelling is the key value of the Foundation product. As the customer base grew, Tideway realised that it had to simplify the configuration of the product to reduce the initial set up and maintenance costs of deploying Foundation in customer estates. The strategy included pushing modelling of applications earlier into the application development process. The product was being rearchitected to ensure data trustworthiness and increase application and software coverage. My task was to analyse the user requirements to identify the needs and capabilites of the different types of users involved and to specify a new user interface for application modelling. |
